Digital Compatibility: This resource is also technology friendly! It can be utilized in classrooms where computers or tablets are central to instruction because the resource has been adapted for digital completion. The resources include links for students to complete any work assigned, such as in-class tasks and assessments, online via Google Slides™ and Google Forms™. For instance, students can work with the documents in Google Drive™ or via Google Classroom™. With these links, you can have students complete their activities, assignments, and assessments online. All they will have to do for the student pages is either create a text box or fill out a form! There are links for every student page and assessment, making the format friendly not only for technology but also trees.
 
Common Core Aligned Unit Plan – 30 Lessons
The Unit Plan maps out the Common Core State Standards covered in each lesson, driving activities for each lesson, resources needed to execute each lesson, and essential questions and understandings for each lesson.
 
The chapter-by-chapter literary analysis resource provides a framework for students to complete a deep analysis of each individual chapter in Percy Jackson. The student pages in this resources also comes in a digital format via Google Slides.
 
Students will build background knowledge and develop and apply literary skills while reading informational texts. There are 22 short articles, one for each chapter of the novel. Topics include Polydeuces, Medusa in Art, the drachma, Echidna, the Minotaur, and more!
 
The close reading lessons hone in on a particular literacy skill and see students engage in a close reading of Percy Jackson. Some literary topics include plot, flashbacks, conflict, character, tone, and setting!
 
The writing resources include mini-lessons that guide students to master skills essential to narrative writing. The mini-lessons focus on five major Common Core standards for narrative writing – elements of plot, point of view, transitions, dialogue, and descriptive language.
