The Restart vocabulary resources will help students learn, acquire, and utilize new words in their writing and speaking. The Restart vocabulary resources will assist students in building their own vocabulary and engage them in varied activities to maximize their vocabulary’s expansion. With the 4 different vocabulary lists, the resource allows for differentiation and flexible implementation. Below is an outline of the materials included to help teach challenging vocabulary words in Restart by Gordon Korman and build your students’ vocabulary knowledge.
 
Vocabulary Words List: The lists identify 40 vocabulary words that are used throughout the novel. Use one list, use two, or more to differentiate for your students’ needs.
 
Vocabulary Crossword Puzzles: The 4 crossword puzzles test students’ knowledge of ten vocabulary words. The puzzle prompts include definitions, synonyms, antonyms, or fill-in-the-blank to challenge students to apply their knowledge of definitions in different formats.
 
Vocabulary Words Practice: The 4 practice assignments see students apply their knowledge of the vocabulary words through various tasks, including proper usage in a sentence, multiple-choice, drawings, and more. The activities are a great way to help students understand the meaning of the vocabulary words and deepen their understanding of the words’ meanings and usage.
 
Vocabulary Quizzes: The 4 vocabulary quizzes assess students’ knowledge on ten vocabulary words. All quizzes are matching and fill-in-the-blank.
 
Vocabulary Resources Answer Key: The answer key provides the definition, location of the word in Restart, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, and an example sentence for all vocabulary words. Answer keys for crossword puzzles, practice activities, and quizzes are also provided.
 
Google Slides™ and Google Forms™ Links: This resource is also technology friendly! It can be utilized in classrooms where computers or tablets are central to instruction because the resource has been adapted for digital completion. For instance, students can work with the documents in Google Drive™ or via Google Classroom. With these links, you can have students complete their assignments and quizzes online.
